Call for papers in English, Spanish, Catalan and French.

The CLIL-SI collaborative team, the GREIP research group, the Language Service and the Institute of Education Science of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona invite:

The presentation of abstracts related to Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and plurilingual education
The conference is aimed at researchers in plurilingual and CLIL education, at infant, primary, secondary school and university teachers from any area (language, social sciences, mathematics, engineering, etc.), and at teacher trainers.

Thematic areas

  1. Teaching in a foreign language at university.
  2. Plurilingual education and teaching in a foreign language in infant, primary and secondary education.
  3. Plurilingual education and linguistic integration of immigrant students.

Types of contributions

  1. Empirical research.
  2. Workshops presenting educational experiences, innovative didactic material or examples of good teaching practices.
  3. Policies and strategies promoting plurilingual education.

Abstracts should be between 800 and 1000 words (without bibliography) and in one of the four official languages of the conference: Catalan, Spanish, English or French. The abstract should mention which language will be used for the oral presentation and which will be used as support (in PowerPoint slides, for example).

Deadlines and conditions for submission

  1. Proposals should be sent to triclil@uab.cat by email as attachments before 27 November 2011.
  2. Two anonymous reviewers will evaluate texts.
  3. Final versions of the texts, including bibliography, should be submitted within one month after acceptance.

Format
Proposals should be submitted as Word 2003 or 2007 documents with .doc, .docx o .rtf extensions.
Proposals should be typed in Times New Roman, size 12, with a spacing of 1.5 lines and margins of 3 cm on each side. Text should be justified.

First page
Title: the TITLE in upper case, in both the language of the oral presentation and the support language (for example, oral presentation in Spanish, supported by PowerPoint in English).
Author/s: names, surnames and affiliation in small capitals. Authors’ email addresses should appear beside their names.
Key words: up to a maximum of 6 key words in the language of the oral presentation and the support language.

Second and subsequent pages
The body of the text should have the following structure:

  1. Empirical research
    1. Theoretical framework
    2. Objectives or questions
    3. Methodology (framework, participants, data, analytical procedures, etc.)
    4. Results
    5. Conclusions
  2. Classroom experiences
    1. Point of departure (question, problem, etc.) and objective of the experience
    2. Context (curricular area, level, place, participants, etc.)
    3. Development, didactic strategies and materials elaborated or used (illustrated by photos, video screenshots, student productions, teaching materials produced, etc.)
    4. Evaluation and conclusions
    5. Proposals for future
  3. Policies
    1. Point of departure and objective
    2. Context
    3. National and international references
    4. Implementation
    5. Evaluation, future prospects and conclusions

The final version of the text must be referenced following APA (6th edition) conventions, available at:
